If you are making the transition from broker to banker, we suggest that you begin the application process with your correspondent investors at the same time your warehouse application is in process.

Although approval for your warehouse line and approval for your investor relationships are somewhat dependent upon one another, they each consume considerable time that can be saved if you have them both in process at the same time.

In selecting your correspondent investors, you will need to consider factors, such as each investor's minimum net worth requirements and the product types they offer.

You may want to look at investors with whom you currently have your wholesale relationships. However, keep in mind that your decision to become a banker means a loss of business to your current wholesale AE in many cases.

For this reason, your wholesale AE may attempt to discourage you from becoming a banker by playing up the risks and downplaying the rewards.
